What the role is
CTMs own delivery of one or more clinical studies. They build the cross-functional study team (CRAs, data, safety, regulatory, vendors), manage timelines and budget, and escalate risks to the program lead. Strong CTMs are part operator, part diplomat — they translate between sponsor and site reality.
A typical day
- Cross-functional team meeting: enrollment, safety, data lock targets
- Vendor governance call (central lab, IRT)
- Budget reforecast for the quarter
- Risk review on a country with regulatory delay
- 1:1 with three CRA line reports
